Privacy policy

The short version

Bloguu does not have user accounts, a database, or a server that processes your calculations. Every figure you type into a calculator is handled by your own browser and never transmitted to us. We do serve third-party advertising, and those advertisers set their own cookies. That is the main way your data is touched here, and this page explains it.

What we collect directly

Nothing that identifies you, with one exception. If you send a message through the contact form, your name, email address and message are transmitted to Formspree, the third-party service that delivers that form, and then to our email inbox. We keep those messages for as long as needed to respond and to track reported errors.

Calculator inputs

Your inputs stay in your browser. They are used to compute a result, and they are written into the page address so that refreshing or sharing the link reproduces the result. This means that if you share a link, whoever receives it can see the values in it. That is the intended behaviour, but be aware of it before sharing a calculation containing figures you consider private.

Local storage

Two preferences are saved in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice, and your selected currency. These never leave your device and contain no personal information. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may serve ads on this site and may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits. Bloguu does not control what data these vendors collect and cannot access it.

Analytics

If analytics are in use, they record aggregate information such as page views, approximate region, referring site, device type and time on page. This is used to understand which calculators are useful and which pages load slowly. It is not linked to any identity and is not sold or shared.

Cookies in summary

• Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners to select and measure ads. Controlled through the opt-out links above or your browser settings.
• Analytics cookies — set to count visits and measure performance in aggregate.
• No cookies are set by Bloguu itself. Our two stored preferences use local storage, not cookies, and are not transmitted anywhere.

You can block or delete cookies in any modern browser's settings. Blocking advertising cookies does not stop ads appearing; it makes them less relevant.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to external sites for sources or further reading. Once you follow such a link you are subject to that site's privacy practices, not ours. We have no control over their content or their data handling.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to us and it will be deleted.

Your rights

Because we hold almost no personal data, there is usually nothing to request or erase. If you have contacted us by email or through the form, you may ask for that correspondence to be deleted at any time.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
